Last Wednesday (the 24th) Renata and I went to Disney's product presentation followed by the screening of "Up" at the Cinema Expo in the RAI. The audiance was given a hour and a half long rollercoaster ride of what's coming in theaters across Europe end of this year, beginning of next year. Watch out for Toy Story 3 (3D), Beauty and the Beast (3D), Christmas Carol, G-FORCE, UP, and.. Pirates of the Carabean 4 :))
One of the things that impressed me the most was Disney's Digital 3D technology. Really amazing.
last night the whole family celibrated together with a large number or residents the 10th anniversary of our community. In between the houses of the street I live in there is quite a big open grass field we used to party.
Good meat, lots of beer and a good laugh made it a night to remember ! Thanks everybody for the great night !!
Yesterday I received an e-mail indicating that I am now possible to invite guests to collaborate with on LotusLive. That is pretty cool !! Now I am able to collaborate with my customers by using all the good stuff available for me in LotusLive Engage. This will dramatically reduce costs for my employer and my customres with who I communicate a lot by save a network-traffic, storage, backup by storing files in LotusLive with them instead of sending it via e-mail.
Most companies are drawn to Software as a service as a means to lower costs. They are attracted by the prospect of not having to purchase, deploy, and manage their own hardware and software stacks. What these companies fail to realize is that these web based systems do not offer the same level of functionality as a full-fledged on-premise solution. While they are paying less, they are also getting less.
Announced today, small business can take advantage of LotusLive Notes as the minimal number of users has been lowered from 1000 to 500 users. In addition to this, these customers will also be able to benefit from the other LotusLive capabilities !
In case you are interested in using LotusLive, let me know !
Lotus Quickr is one of the best kept secrets in IT shops all across The Netherlands. Why ? I don't know. Maybe you have the answer for me...
See for yourself what Quickr has to offer and how it can make a difference for businesses in The Netherlands. Especially in the SMB segment.
Yesterday I was looking for a way to easily integrate Twitter with Notes. This is when my "a-ha" moment came.
It's very easy to install a plug-in into Notes 8 and have it open in the side-bar. Great !! But not everybody needs a fat-client.
Does this also work in iNotes/Domino Web Acces -- or even better, in the Outblaze version of iNotes :))
The reason why I am questioning Eclipse as the onderlying basis for Notes is not because I don't see any advantages in the OSGi framework but more because I foresee a lot collaboration will take place in a browser metafore on a smart-phone-like device..
Some of you might know that I have a subscription on Fortune magizine for several years now. While I was reading one of the latest issues last weekend, I came across the cover story about Alan Mullally of Ford Motor Company. One of the things I noticed is that he took very bold steps/action in his effort to safe Ford. One of those decisions he made when he came on board was making a substantial reduction in the line-up of models that Ford produces. This is what I call focus. The people who are really good at focussing reside on The Infinate Loop in Cupertino, California.
It's been a while since I learned that version 8 of Lotus Notes would be based on Eclipse RCP-- and it still dazzles me. Especially after I have seen a demo of Google's "Wave". In the late 90's I had the wonderfull opportunity to stay in Cambridge, MA for a month on assignment to test-drive eSuite. Some of the die hard Loti will remember this product that was basically providing productivity tools as Java Applets contained in a Domino Database being rendered by the Domino HTTP task.
